Hello Chicago Suburbanites

My wife and I may be relocating to the Chicago area for work. My salary will be at 60K or so. Not much, but enough to live on. We should have about 10-15K for a down payment, but may go zero down to bank that cash into savings.

I will be working in the Deerfield Area and was wondering what area you recommend. We dont' have any kids yet, but would want good schools as wel as a safe/affordable place to live. Any help you could provide would be great.

Thanks.

JR

If you can afford Vernon Hills, that's definitely your best bet. A much better commute to Deerfield than the other two, and the schools are very good, and getting better. Gurnee would be a fine choice too, but the traffic will make for a long commute every day. You'll probably spend 2x in gas. I'd stay away from Beach Park. Even worse commute and the schools are not even close to the caliber of Vernon Hills.

Good luck!

go with Vernon Hills out of those choices. its quiet and secluded but very close to the main town and a mall. ( I LOVE THAT MALL!)
