Actually, I think a lot of sheriff's departments consider it a big deal. Places like Kentucky and Arkansas come to mind.

And its illegal trade which means its illegally regulated by you guessed it - guys with guns.

Well then maybe we should take away every citizen's rights to own a gun for protecting their families in the event of a burglary. Afterall, criminals will always be able to get their hands on guns to committ crimes against innocent civilians (if they're guns are taken away), and criminals already far outnumber police, and that's how it should be. Screw those innocent civilians! Rapists and murderers, come on in our houses, no need to worry about us having guns for protection! Please take advantage of us ASAP! Rape and murder our wives and children! Too bad the gun law already passed last month

Do caucasians roam the streets in gangs searching for someone to rob and/or kill? Do their stray gunfire during gang wars kill innocent children? Also, check the stats on the welfare topic and you'll see which races are ahead by far, proportion considered. I have friends of various races but let's not deny an obvious problem in today's society.

I am not saying lawful gun ownership causes white rural crime that's so high its better to live in the ghetto, which is what you seem to be inferring.

Sorry, I misunderstood you it seems. I guess I'm a little on edge lately due to so much liberal whacky crap going on these days. Feel free to check out talk radio on Fox to hear what the mainstream media doesn't want you to hear.

As far as the other topic goes, more needs to be done to prevent gangs and inner-city violent crime in general. That's my main point.

There are racial problems in CHicago and its burbs - in every direction (except the Lake), I don't deny. And good hardworking people of any race don't like welfare-sponging, drug-dealing, house-trashing, neighbors of any race, either.

But to assume that no neighborhood that's got a siginicant black or hispanic population can be considered safe -- well, I'm not at that point yet.

I won't go that far either. I've searched the stats pretty extensively though in IL, VA, NC, SC, IN (Northwest), CA, MO, and I've only ran across a few exceptions, unfortunately. Maybe other states are different.
