Tinley Park
No disrespect but just because African Americans are everywhere you go in you go in Tinley Park does'nt mean that there isn't rascism. The days of African American being terrified of ignorance are long gone its over, this is 2009 a whole new generation. I'm just simply saying that when it comes to trying to be a business owner the Village of Tinley Park makes it difficult for African Americans, Hispanics etc...

Bolingbrook has had massive booms since then and is now a very nice suburb but it always gets a bad rap because its next too snobby Naperville

I would suggest Naperville, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Woodridge, etc. Its all very nice areas, low violence, decent schools, and good places for a family.

Nice enough little town, just not much going on there or anywhere around it. If I recall correctly, there's some pretty good housing stock there. It's also far enough away that it's not really a suburb -- there's a lot of open space between Dwight and the suburbs.

Thanks Drover!...I'm in Ca right now, but originally from Southfield, Mi. I am looking for a friendly small town atmosphere again that's been gone for some time here on the central coast!!...also wondering what might be available in rentals. I would possibly like to buy something later on if I remain in the area. I might have to learn to drive in snow, or get my own snow plow!!

Without a bit more detailed information it is hard to give very specific information or suggestions regarding your new home search. The "south" suburbs can offer a vast range of housing prices and lifestyle, depending on the town you choose and the major highway you are closest to. Fortunately, there are many great areas from which to choose and many price ranges to consider for housing.
If you can be a little more specific and write back ... that will help. I've been in real estate for over 30 years and served this area all that time, so able to offer guidance/assistance regarding this entire area. Please write again and let us know where you will be working or seeking employment. That will help greatly.
