Tinley Park
Is tinley park going to turn bad? We were thinking of moving there & the prices seem too low. I know it is close to country club hills which has turned. What do you think will happen in the future with Tinley park? Thanks very much

I suppose it's possible. All neighborhoods go through changes, particularly as their housing stock ages. It may seem hard to believe now but eventually, Tinley Park and Orland Park will too. As of late, there has been some white flight from that area as lower income people have been pushed out of Chicago due to gentrification and settling in the south suburbs. But that said, I tend to doubt that Tinley is going to take a turn south for awhile. The housing stock is still (relatively) new and well-kept and there's a lot of income down there. 20 years from now perhaps. Today, no.

I hate to break the news to you, but there are (GASP!!!) MINORITIES already living in Tinley Park!!!! I know it's shame, but maybe if you move there you can get a new Klan chapter going and see if you can do something about it.

Lol Not many though, and the bulk of the minority population down there is Arabic. I don't think that area, on the whole, is known for people who treasure diversity if you know what I'm saying. That's why I think it will ultimately see a rapid demographic shift at some point in the future. But I think that's a little ways off.

Its amazing to hear what some consider a "bad" neighborhood.
I wouldn't call anything in the south burbs "bad" until you get over into chicago heights.
Of course, CC hills has its areas along with matteson, richton park, and even homewood... but I wouldn't say there is a place in any of the above where you couldn't safely walk down the street... park forest on east to IN definitely has its areas, though.

as far as what i have seen it is still allright. i don't live there but go to school there. You have to keep in mind that parts of tinley Park have some older homes and that might be why they are going for less.
