Default high rise place for urban, educated foreigners?

Hello All:

Hope you don't read my post during this beautiful summerish weekend.

We are currently living a boring suburban life in Mt Prospect. We would love to move to Chicago downtown but unfortunatley it would be too far for my wifey to commute to. Would you recommend some place for us to move in? Here'r the sort of conditions:

1) Wifey works in Bloomingdale area
2) I fly out normally from Ohare during the weekdays.. So location is no problem to me
3) Have a kid - 6 months, school /good daycare centers will be preferred
4) We are foreigners, educated...Evanston is my choice but too far for wifey
5) I've a thing for high-rise building.
6) I'm green. So don't drive the car and rely on public transportation and keep the taxi usage to bare minimum.

Guys : Would you please recommend any place for us? We would appreciate your pointers from bottom of our heart.

Regards and peace.....

There really isn't much in the way of high-rise living outside of the city. Evanston is the only place I can think of, but you already ruled that out. Sorry.
