I don't consider that so important. Annexation of the burbs could have several beneficial results, among them dumping a whole bunch of people with higher achievements and expectations into the mix thus raising the city's useful person to parasitical bum ratio. It might also push along the "infill" thing and result in an increase of density in the county.
It might also have beneficial results on the political mix too. Sure would throw Daley for a loop.

Then again the lawyers are happy and Illinois is an attorney state.
It's not a simple of live and let live. The suburbs directly and indirectly hurt Chicago.
Anyone agree?

What part of the city do you live in? I will scoff if you live in Cumberland, Jeff Park, Beverly, et cetera.
There are many neighborhoods in city limits and many inner ring suburbs that are indistinguishable from one another. I can see the hate directed at Buffalo Grove or Naperville but Oak Park, Evanston or Cicero?

Even still, why "hatred" towards Naperville to begin with? Its a great suburbs, no matter who hates it for whatever reason.

I just don't like the kind of suburbs that seem like escapism. So many neighborhoods nowadays are just so exclusionary. You drive into your gated community and up your driveway into your garage and never see a single neighbor outside their homes. 8 foot fences protect your privacy and everyone goes about their lives total separate from any sense of community.
I guess it isn't for everyone but I live in a city so that I can be a social being. I talk with my neighbors everyday and we walk our dogs and watch the kids play and discuss what's going on the neighborhood and just shoot the s**t. That kind of relation is important to me.

Well, considering there are hardly any neighborhoods like that in Naperville, Id say youre dead wrong in your assumption. Most of the town is good ol' subdivisions where neighbors and children alike converse and have fun together.

Like what? You do know not all suburbs in Chicago match the stereotype. Even though I rather be in the city, there are some good things about the burbs.
