Default Flooding in Mt. Prospect?

I've seen some mention of flooding around Mt. Prospect. Are there certain areas that are worse than others? What about Arlington Heights? We are exploring many different areas and this one comes up within our price range and school requirements, but I grew up w. a basement that flooded all the time and I'd prefer to avoid it if possible.

With the bloody rains we've had this spring all the basements in Illinois are flooded. The only sure cure is back plaster, tar and a very good drainage system.

Hyperbole may be appropriate as this has been a very wet spring / early summer, but the reality is that if the OP is concerned about finding a home is susceptible to rain NOW is the perfect time to find evidence of that with ease.

Personally, my in-laws lived in MP and their area never had any problems -- it was my impression that most parts of MP have good drainage systems for storm water and a well thought out plan that includes the kinds of detention areas and stream bed / edge improvements that keep water moving away from homes...

Perhaps the OP means Prospect Heights, that has some areas prone to flooding.

I've lived in Mount Prospect my entire life. Our basement has only flooded once when my mom accidently left the sump-pump unplugged when we went on vacation. Even last fall when clearwater overflowed and water was on our street we didn't have any flooding. Some of the neighbors not so lucky but Clearwater has only overflowed 2 times in the last 20 years as I recall.

Thanks! I pulled up some news articles about the village putting in a levee and some homes getting a ton of standing water in their yards for days after a storm, so I was trying to figure out where that was.
