I've lived in south River Forest for 20 years and there are some really good bargains in condos.

You are totally correct when dealing with single family homes...but do a search for condos, and you'll be pleasantely surprised. When my husband and I first started looking for a condo three years ago, we didn't even think to look at River Forest, and in fact, my realtor said not to waste our time, as we wouldn't be able to afford a thing there. However, when we weren't finding anything to our liking in our price range in Oak Park, we went out on a limb and made a discovery that even our realtor obviously didn't know about. The condos in the complex in which we live, is smack in the middle of these million dollar homes, and they are under 160K....and there isn't a catch...they are nice and our particular unit is one of the nicest (I promise I'm not being bias....we just re-did our bathroom a few months ago)!

Anyway, we are moving because we want to have kids and are just ready for a house in the "burbs," but this is a GREAT place, so please spread the word....my realtor's phone number is 815-212-3939...just tell her your interested in the River Forest condo...it's the only rf condo she has listed as she's based out in Frankfort....

Thanks in advance for any help on spreading the word...in this market, us sellers can use all the help we can get!

Is this thread supposed to be about River Forest or your condo?

Well, that exclusivity is about to exclude my family--an architect married to an advertising executive. We're such riff raff!

Actually, we could probably swing it, but don't want to be slaves to our mortgage. This economic downturn has taught me the value of financial flexibility.
