Default Suburbs around O'hare

My company is sending me to work on a 2 year project close to O'hare. What are the best (safest, cleanest, most affordable, etc) suburbs within a 20-30 minute drive of the airport? Since my family will be staying behind, I just need a single bedroom apartment. I'll be relocating in about a month. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Dave

To generalize, anything north, west, or east of there is good for your needs. On the closer end, Elk Grove and Des Plaines are probably going to be less expensive apartment-wise than would Park Ridge. The northwest side of Chicago is pretty nice, so that's certainly an option...probably would be my choice as an out-of-towner, methinks.

There are also nice rentals SOUTH of O'Hare, near Elmhurst.

Price and features are going to be pretty equal in any direction. 2 years is a LOONG time to spend away from family...

Any of the burbs around O'Hare are pretty safe. It is very suburban (some from elsewhere may call it urban). Chicagoland is a massive expanse of wide streets, sidewalks, and shopping centers.

The only burb around O'Hare I would avoid is Rosemont due to the transient nature.

Check out Elmhurst and Arlington Heights. Easy commutes to Ohare, lovely communities, very nice rentals, easy access to downtown Chicago, safe, vibrant, active downtowns.
