Lake Zurich-Is there a catch?
I have researching the areas around Des Plaines ( where my husband may move with his job) and have found Lake Zurich to tick a lot of the boxes.
Housing seems to be a bit more affordable, low crime, etc.
What is the scoop on Lake Zurich??
Thanks!

I would say that the only "catch" is that the schools aren't *as* good as the surrounding areas (Barrington, Long Grove, Buffalo Grove, etc.), though they are very good in general. Also, traffic is a giant mess right now because there's ongoing construction on Rt 22, which is the main road through the town. Overall, Lake Zurich is a great place to live that seems to only be getting better.

Moving from south Florida
Any ideas on Itasca? I have never been there, but on paper it looks pretty good. I am also looking at St. Charles, South Elgin, Lake Zurich and Buffalo Grove (we plan to rent for the first year). My husband will be working from home and in Schaumburg (west side of Woodfield Mall) 2-3 half days per week. Looking for comments and suggestions from locals. Thanks!

Cant say anything bad about any of them..Personal choice would be St Charles first, south Elgin last. St CHarles has a downtown area thats very nice,is on the river with nice parks and good schools.BG and LZ are really heavy with traffic, more stip malls and not that small town atmoshere--NICE PLACES though, just MHO The Elgin area is a bit iffy, south Elgin is outskirts a bit, lots of subdivisions

Been looking in the St. Charles area close to the border of South Elgin. How are the schools in South Elgin? Is redistricting a possibility there?
