Default Armands in Elmwood park closed down

Armands pizzeria in Elmwood Park closed down after being open for over 50 years. This is the end of an era.

Now supposedly, they opened up an Armand's someyears ago, here in St. Charles, then they changed the name, but supposedly the pizza did not change... It is now named pizza PI. I need to do a taste test to make sure this is the case.... Armand's was great pizza. I wonder what happened. Most of the time, they would sell their business. Are you sure they're not moving?

This is very sad. I wish I had known about it so I could have gone one last time. That place was a favorite for my wife and I. It was great old school family-style Italian dining--and I LOVED that pizza.

I think I saw one somehwere else too... Perhaps Arlington Heights? Is it really the same thing? I just figured it was another restaurant with the same name.

So are the Arlington Heights and Elmhurst locations still open? And can anyone attest to their quality? I'm sure they have the charm of a strip mall.

My best friend is a 62 year old, old school Italian-American who grew up in Elmwood Park a block from Armands and now lives in Villa Park and he likes the Elmhurst Armands. When I was at his house we got a pizza from there and it was like the ones I had from the old place.

He also says the best Italian restuarant in "Chicago" is Roberto's in Elmhurst, we ate there once and it's VERY good.

A lot of the old West Side Italians are now in the western suburbs. You can't help but trip over Italian restaurants out in that direction.

I'll have to try Roberto's some time, since the western suburbs may be my home some day.
