Question Lincolnwood Crime Rate

According to the Chicago Tribune real estate community stats, the crime rate for Lincolnwood is not good (4 - which is the worst) compared to other areas surrounding it (Skokie, Morton Grove, etc. (1 - which is the best)) - is there a bad pocket there? All the posts we read mention that Lincolnwood is very safe - we really like the area and were considering moving to that area, but the numbers bother us. Thanks for helping.

Could be skewed by crime at Lincolnwood Town Centre mall -- shoplifting, etc., which is a regular feature in the local police blotter. Skokie would have the same problem at Old Orchard, but Skokie is a larger community overall so it wouldn't skew the stats as much, plus Old Orchard is not as convenient to poorer areas (south Evanston, Rogers Park, etc.) where the Lincolnwood Town Centre criminals are coming from.

In addition to Johnny's observation (which I concur with), the small size of Lincolnwood and relatively large percentage of restaurants and such means the police there have more reports to fill out -- everytime someone drives off from a gas pump or skips out on a dinner the cops write those up as theft. We are aren't talked armed robbery...

Lincolnwood is as safe as any of the immediate bordering communities(i.e. skokie, park ridge, niles, etc.)
It is very safe.
