Bizzare? Note from mom? Do I sniff a whiff of Barrington arrogance? My source is the very website your are on now. I clearly indicated this in my
post. Do you doubt citydata.com's data and sources? Do tell us your reasoning. Why don't you take some time and actually check it
out yourself instead of just assuming I'm throwing out inaccurate data. Sorry you think it's bizzare, but maybe you just are just out
of touch?

Technically yes. In reality, no. I think you will find a wide range of definitions. I always felt Northbrook and Glenview were North Shore. I always joked, as did many of my fellow south side Skokians, that we were the "slums of the North Shore".

Before the 1940s, Evanston was the epitome of the North Shore. Prior to that time period, most of the elite Chicago "gentry" resided there.

I think that most people feel that the North shore includes Glenview, Northbrook, Deerfield, Lincolnshire, Northfield & Bannockburn. Skokie, Morton Grove, Golf, possibly..... But the bottom line is that people consider the north shore an area----not strictly defined as a set of communities physically tied to Lake Michigan.

Highland Park, Highwood, Lake Forest, and Lake Bluff are probably considered north shore
In terms of the "real" North Shore, Winnetka, Glencoe, and Kenilworth comes to mind.

I grew up in Antioch and thought of it as a country town. I moved to Minneapolis and now again I cannot wait to move back. Currently in the process of looking for a job down there and cannot wait for my family to move back
You don't know what you had until its gone.

Yup. I live in NC now and we are in the process of coming home to Lake County within a year. I feel the same way

Antioch has grown leaps and bounds. It is still more rural and you can tell it's the end of Chicagoland, but it's growing.

The newsweek methodology is very suspect and biased- not the best source. See past posts by Chet Everet regarding Newsweek school reports compared with US News & World Report's school rankings.
My mother-in-law lives in St Jean sur Richelieu and when comparing weather, it is a little milder in Chicago and the snow fall is more irregular here.
