Yeah, but seriously, I cannot see the older people who already live in Flossmoor giving up their homes for Oswego and Plainfield. Omg, I would hate to have to live in Plainfield. It's way out in the middle of nowhere, and they have more of a tornado threat...



Sometimes, I really, really question why you contribute to threads. You offend mass amounts of people for no reason. You're basically saying that these little yuppies who turn into mothers and fathers have these magically high IQs move and create mass amounts of genius little babies, but only in one area of Chicagoland. I guess I never could have made it living in an all black part of Chicago. Oh wait, I did!

Apparently you cannot read, I said that the older folks are the only ones staying there that are white or overall are the ones moving into the area. Stats don't lie. Black kids have to be coming from somewhere and until white people are somehow able to pump out black babies which I would think that would start a war in that household as someone hasn't been totally faithful, but anyhow, until that happens the black kids have to be coming from somewhere and chances are it's from black families moving into the two towns. Who woulda thunk!

Actually 2008 saw the largest birth rate in America since the tail end of the Baby Boom Generation. And it was markedly higher among all racial groups, so it can't be pegged on immigration.

But seriously, the fact is that Americans of all racial backgrounds have much more children than other fully industrialized countries of Western Europe or Asia.

That SHOULD give us some clout in the whole "we aren't dying away" economic race, but it also means that unless those kids GET SMARTER we are going to have loads of idiots to slurp up goodies from the public trough...

The naperville choice is particular to my situation. It has certain geographic advantages. Only makes sense to avoid it if I can actually live someplace I enjoy significantly more.

The reason schools like New Trier & Loyola have higher scoring students is not because of the schools themselves, but because the kids that attend have higher IQs gifted to them genetically by their parents, who also have high IQs, and that's why the parents work, have good incomes, and live on the North Shore in the first place.

One could take the kids of college professors and study them in the very same way, they will outscore others too. Put your kids into good schools for the peer group, not necessarily the 3R's etc. which can be taught anywhere where there are no major disruptions.

But the IQ test is geared toward white males. Is that really the best way to judge one's intelligence?

Well, I'm one of these young white professionals with kids--as are many of my friends--so I'll tell you why I wouldn't move to Flossmoor. And I love Flossmoor with it's beautiful streets of shops, wonderful housing stock, and Metra Accesss... But it's not an option for my family because:

1. It's part of a larger region (south Chicagoland) that is facing a major decline. Flossmoor may be peaceful now, but many of it's neighbors are not--and things look as though they will get worse in the future. Flossmoor is becoming isolated from other nice areas--and it just doesn't offer enough on it's own to make up for this.

2. I will not put my kids in a school where the dominant culture looks down on educational achievement, the test scores are lousy, and personal safety is an issue. H-F may not quite be there yet, but it is on the brink.

3. H-F High School seems to be on a fast downward track. The school is changing so rapidly now that it will be in terrible shape by the time my young daughters are high school age.

4. The southern burbs are inconvenient for me. The distances from family and friends are just too great.

I'll add that I wouldn't move to Plainfield, New Lenox, or Orland if you paid me, however. I'd rather stick it out in Flossmooor.

That premise never made any sense to me. What would one do to make a standardized educational test less "white male" based? Test on how long it takes one to steal a set of 25" dubs? At some point, relativism has to take a back seat here.

I agree with you, I am just stating what today's universities are teaching our leaders of tomorrow. If it is geared towards white males then why do asian males and asian females score the highest?
