Best safe route from Warrenville to Bridgeview?
Need to get to Toyota Park from Warrenville (I-88). Any recommendations for a quick, safe route? Never been to Bridgeview or the surrounding burbs, are they safe?

One way:
You could take 88 to Midwest Road (turns into Cass.) Take that to Chicago (turns into 47th). Then take 47th to Harlem. Then Harlem to Toyota Park.

The soccer stadium is really nice, and Bridgeview has done a great job of making the area accessible. It is a straight shot down Harlem.
I think you'd be nuts not to stick with the expressways. I-88 to 294 to the Stevenson to Harlem.
I have no idea why Avengerfire would prefer surface streets, nor is it possible to follow 47th from Cass to Harlem. Even factoring in snaking through a half a dozen towns 47th itself becomes Chicago Ave at the Hinsdale/Western Springs border and isdiscontinous with Naperville Rd in Westmont and Clarendon Hills. Sure recipe to get lost...
Safety is fine in the vicinity of the park, and if you wanted to stick to surface streets the simpler route would be I-88 to York then through Oak Brook and Westchester along 22nd all the way through North Riverside then Harlem south to the park. Lyons is not especially "scenic" along Harlem but safety is a non-issue.

Yes, it's perfectly safe (if unspectacular) pretty much all around that area.
I've always wondered if you can slide east to Harlem by getting off of 294 at 79th st. It's kind of hard to tell on the map, and winging it I've always gotten trapped in the industrial park. Certainly, that would be better than going all the way north to I-55 (or south to 95th, where the exit ramp is backed way up due to construction).

79th goes through, but it too means you have to know which turns to make. Heck I have ended up in the "wrong lane" had to circle around in various cemeteries and creepy industrial parks.
Stick with the Stevenson unless you have cat like reflexes and GPS...

It's very easy to get turned around in the 294/79th Street area and go the wrong way. Stick with the Stevenson and you won't go wrong! I used to live in Bridgeview before Toyota Park was built and it is safe.

Well, it was pretty uneventful drive minus the construction on 88 that had us at a standstill for almost 15 friggin minutes. I ended up taking 88 to 294 South to 55 North to Harlem. The stadium is fantastic, but cant say the same for the areas around the park... rather depressing in spots.

Agreed. It ranges from ok to depressing. The commercial strips are just so dated. But it isn't dangerous and there are actually some pretty cool hidden gems up and down Harlem

The near SW corridor is still pretty heavy with industrial type jobs, not exactly prime area for those who like their "urban density" to come with yuppie amenities. These are people that do hard jobs in rough conditions and it shows...
