during Spring 2006 semester, I took a rather neat floral design class. I was the only male student in that class and the rest of the students were all female. apparently, a few of the students did open up to me during the course of the semester, but on the last day when i asked them if they would like to exchange phone numbers, they told me to "go away!" Apparently because of that (and I was unaware of it), for that exact reason, the teacher gave me a "D" in the class. then in spring of 2007, i tried retaking the class so i could get a higher grade, apparently sort of against the curriculum supervisor's wishes to take the second floral design class, the same instructor was teaching the class I was retaking and she suddenly turned mean and told me that if she saw me chatting with anyone that she would call the police. I was totally heartbroken! so then i dropped that one and took the second class. basically, this is another reason why I see du page county as the "rude capital of north america."

I'm sorry man. There's no crime in asking people for phone numbers, and you got worked by DuPage. I would take this up with someone in a higher position, but thats just me...I'm the argumentive type that wants answers.

I would definitely bring this up with the head of the department. You are paying for these classes. Straighten it out at least. Maybe you were bothersome to the girls in the class - but they should have straightened you out on that fact - not just give you a bad grade. You deserve an explanation.

I agree with making a formal complaint. Did you ever confront this professor? Sounds like it wouldn't matter if you did. There is no reason for your grade to be effected that much. I would suggest you consider clarifying your situation to the professor and the department. Sounds like this professor has the issue, not you.

It's not DuPage County. It's academia.
