Default Inexpensive things to do for fun around Itasca

Hi,

I recently move to Itasca from the East Coast. Due to the expense of buying a house and moving, we're sort of low on cash at the moment, so we're trying to keep our expenses low for a few months until we recover.

I was wondering if anyone recommend fun things to do around the area. It doesn't have to be in Itasca, but surrounding region.

When I lived in the East Coast, I used to take trips out to the Jersey Shore, visit the various garden in the area (there were a lot), do some boating out at the nearby reservoir, visited the nearby train museum, etc.

Tomorrow, I was thinking about driving out to some place call Waterfall Glen. Suggestions?

Paul

The Morton Arboretum isnt terribly far away, there is Illinois Beach State Park about an hour NE of you, drive-in theatres, rollerskating, bowling, car shows (I think theyre on Friday nights though) at the Buona Beef in Itasca, Schaumburg Flyers baseball game, etc, etc. You could try Waterfall Glen, but the trails can be quite long (10+ miles at times) and its supposed to rain tomorrow. Id try Waterfall Glen on Sunday. Make sure you get off the main trails and take some backwoods trails that lead you deep into the woods. Mosquitos might be a hassle back there, though.
