It is not only the physical space of the land - which is roughly 414x414 sq feet vs 52x52 sqft - it is the personal space that makes the difference. I've never lived in a home with that much land around it. However, knowing people who do, I must say they live more freely as you say here. There's less concern about noise, someone seeing you, and of course, entertaining is never a problem. For them, it's wonderful. It's a lifestyle they especially enjoy.

I think Flossmoor is an excellent place to live like that. How much better can it get than 1-2.5 acre lots in an affluent suburb, surrounded by even more affluence?

You can get the same things in the neighboring suburbs, sometimes for cheaper.

I would never quibble about two acres anywhere except to the point you do not usually find it in a city unless it is a commercial property.

My aunt lived in an large three-story French Provincial on a 1/4 acre lot. The surrounding houses were just as impressive and on lots just as small. I spent every summer there for nine years. Coming from the house on the 2-arce lot into this enclave was a shock to my psyche I felt like a trapped rat in a maze. I never did get used to it.

Hmm. I'm sure it was kind of odd. . I love that style of home though.

I wouldn't quibble about it either.
