Default Best areas in Skokie?

We are exploring many different areas and Skokie is next on our list. We have a baby and schools are important of course. Also, my husband will probably be getting an office in the city (will depend on where we end up moving) so access to public transportation would be a big plus since we only have one car. Which areas would be considered the most desirable or family-friendly as far as parks and schools? Obviously cost is a factor, but just trying to narrow down the areas to check out first. Thanks!

There's a few streets of two- and three-flats (Like Keating) that have a high percentage of Section 8, but other than that, there isn't much difference.

I tend to agree that the areas nearest the most high density rentals (which are still pretty low density...) are the least desirable.

The other thing that ought to be a concern for anyone considering Skokie, even if they do not yet have high school age children, is that the performance of the high schools is no longer as impressive as it once was. I have some theories on why that is, but the data from both the reliable US News reports as well as the less rigorous Newsweeks ranks is indisputable:

She said her husband would probably be getting an office in the city. I was just curious.

SEO, fwiw.

So which areas of Skokie have higher levels of rental properties and which are primarily SFHs?

Have you searched the forums regarding Skokie?? Not bad, but........there are choices with public transit into downtown that may be even better.

Yep, but to be honest it's a little overwhelming and scattered and doesn't directly answer my question. Do you mean there are other areas that are not Skokie that would be a better fit?
