need FAMILY LAW legal advise please for DUPAGE County!!
In 8 years since my divorce I have never requested an increase in child support from my ex-husband. Per our Child Settlement Agreement, every year he is to provide me with a copy of his W-2 and he was to adjust the amount of support according to the State of Illinois guidelines. I have always received $400 a month TOTAL for 2 children. I know that amount is ridiculous, but, my ex-husband is a JOKE. Two years ago, my son turned 18 and my ex decided he would reduce the $400 to $300. Again, it wasnt worth making waves because I was making well over $100,000 per year...
GUESS WHAT, I lost my job this past May. I am currently collecting unemployment (which is exactly the amount of my mortgage payment per month, THANK YOU STATE OF ILLINOIS!!!)
I have no idea how much my EX makes per year, but I need help and NOW I dont want to pay a LAWYER to go to court to have a COURT ORDER ENFORCED that he should already abide by, and HE CHOOSES NOT TO!!!
Will the court appoint an attorney to me because of my unemployment status?? HOW do low income families do this??? I am not above doing anything to keep my daughter in the home that she grew up in, at least until she graduates from High School in 2 years....
Please HELP!!!
