Hi guys, just moved from Scotland and will be renting in Deerfield from next month. The attached elementary is Wilmot and we have a 6 yr old who will go there. We have a 4.5 yr old who would have started school in Scotland and who will be in pre-k here (?) and a 3yr old (in Oct). Does Wilmot have a pre-k attached/associated with it or do we select any pre-k institution? Also, the 3 year old would have started nursery five half days per week in Scotland, but assume he's too young for the public education system here? Do we pay for pre-k? Any info is appreciated.

Wilmot is a good school. It's K-5. I don't believe there is any pre-k in district 109. You have to search out preschools yourself and pay for them. Basically kids start here at 5 in Kindergarten. 3 and 4 year olds going to pre-school and pre-k attend mostly private institutions.

The deerfield park district has a pre-school program. Contact the park district at Jewett Park behind the police station off of Waukegan rd.

Fit like ma loon and welcome! I live within a half mile of your neighborhood in Deerfield with children at similar ages. Our family as well as friends of ours have been thrilled with the local Montessori schools. www.montessori-schools.com. There are several locations nearby. Also, youth football/soccer season has just begun if they play.
