Default Mokena vs Bolingbrook for a famiily

Hello all,

This is not your typical "Which one should I chose" thread because we already live in Mokena. So we know the area, the housing options. The layout, schools etc etc. For the past three years we have considered moving everywhere from Atlanta to Texas to NW Indiana. What we realized is that we just don't care for Mokena and don't necessarily need to leave Illinois. I hope this doesn't get too many feathers rattled but we just flat out don't like Mokena. We love it for our kids, it's safe, and has plenty of parks and the schools are awesome. But for us not so much. Just not our cup of tea. In my opinion the housing options are excellent if your price point is above 300k. If your price point is at or below 300k your options basically suck. Older SMALL, not smaller, but SMALL homes that need a LOT of work, both cosmetic and structural.

What we DON'T like about Mokena aside from the percieved lack of value in housing is tthe general layout. The gridlock along LaGrange Road. Lack of varied shopping unless one wants to fight LaGrange to get into Orland. We also just don't like how rural some parts of Mokena appear. In all fairness it's still being buiilt/developed, but still. So, that said we considered Tinley, but thats Cook County. No Thanks. Bolingbrook caught my attention recently and I wanted some opinions on it's stability.I.e is it the next "south" suburb to go down the tubes? Is it already considered down the tubes? Is its a good idea to invest in a home there? What parts are to be avoided? We have a school aged child (11) and are expecting a second later this year so schools are of importance and the stability of said schools are very important as our children would be attending them 20 years from now. Is it better to stick it out in Mokena for the kids sake? Again, baby number two won't be here till late December. Are we crazy for choosing Bolingbrook over Mokena?? Help!!!!

I did an edit to say that I'm sorta looking for more taylored advice as to whether or not the move from Mokena to Bolingbrook would be a BAD idea based on my general dislike of Mokena. Not necessarily the non specific por's and cons of Bolingbrook but more the pros and cons of Bolingbrook as compared to Mokena. Thanks!
