Taking a drive to Cicero. (Oak Park, Hammond: live in, restaurant, dangerous)

Hello! First post here and I would like to know a little about Cicero. Why? Because I live in Hammond and I'm about to take a drive there to pick up an item from a CL seller. I'm a 23 year old black male and I was wondering...how is racial issues in Cicero? My mom thinks it's too dangerous to drive there.

cicero used to be real racist. i don't think really anymore but it is only like .5% black. it is like 75% hispanic and it kind of dangerous. i don't think just going through there would be that bad.

If you feel that worried have the CL's seller meet in nearby Oak Park, where everyone lives in peace and harmony singing together to CocaCola ads while denouncing capitalism...

But seriously there are not roving gangs of wife-beater-clad thugs that patrol Cicero for those with a complexion darker than their own.

If you know where you are going (and that the seller is not a scammer) merely picking up some merchandise in Cicero ought to be no riskier than doing so in any other town.

I have spent plenty of time in Cicero and there are always black people walking through town. You'll be fine, you can even stop for lunch. There's a few Mexican restaurant's in town.
