Looking for apartments in western suburbs
My son and his wife are looking for an apartment complex in the western suburbs (up I-355, across I-88) that is largely young couples. They would like 1 to 2 bedrooms, 1.5 to 2 bathrooms, laundry and parking facilities. Extras would be nice, such as pool and gym facilities, but location (close to the above-named interstates/highways), condition, and # of bathrooms are the biggest concerns. They can budget up to/around $1100.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your input!

Are they vegitarians, mixed race, or environmentalists?

Not sure what the OP means by "up 355, across 88" -- Lombard or the east end of Glen Ellyn would be closest to that "intersection" ...
You are not really going to find anything that is "largely young couples" but there are plenty of complexes that are almost evenly divided between those starting out and those that have downsized, which are preferable to some wild party scene anyhow...
Price range should work for want they want size wise, but any place with a pool and a gym is going to cost more.

No ... no vegeterians or etc. Not sure what the rest has to do with it. And the area they are looking for is north on I-355 to I-88 and over to the west. Son's wife will be working in Frankfort, son in St. Charles, so somewhere inbetween the two would be great and convenient for both.
Appreciate the input and suggestions ...

Wow, Frankfort and St. Charles means someone is going to be logging some major commuting times. If one job is likely to allow some work from home and /or require travel I be sure the spouse is closer to work. The are some newer complexes around Warrennville that afford good access to the tollway, but that will still require some major commuting to Frankfort. There are some complex near the Maple St. ramps off 355 that might be the most "balanced" -- affording longish commutes to both.
I would hate to have to deal with finding a place to buy if they still work in those locations. Lots of good choices near either end will result the other spouse feeling like they have a terrible commute...

chet everett: Thanks for the heads-up on the locations you mentioned. They are aware that no one really "wins" this battle. A commute will be demanded in some manner. Affordability will also dictate some decisions, I'm sure. Will check out the suggestions you made. Thanks again.

Village Green Apts on Winfield Road, just north of 88 might work but like Chet said, the commute to Frankfort would be hefty. There are a few apartment complexes along 355 in the Downers/Bolingbrook area that would be easier for the Frankfort commute but the trip to St. Charles would be sticky. How far west in St. Charles? Do they need to cross the river? There is a nice complex in South Wheaton - AMLI at Danada which is close to 88 and 355 for the Frankfort commute and a few miles south of North Ave for the St. Charles commute - a much easier commute for the St. Charles worker. What about Plainfield or Oswego? Doesn't 30 take you over to Frankfort? That would be a very different route to go but could work too.

irish setter girl: Thanks for all the suggestions. We'll give them a look. The northwest leg of the commute to St. Charles is the lesser important part of the commuting to be done. A trip to the office there is not called for every day, whereas the trip south will be done most often. An I-355
hook-up in most important. Thanks again for writing!
