Question Downtown Chicago to Burr Ridge commute?

Hi,

We are planning to relocate to Chicago in August. I was wondering if anyone can help with some information. How realistic is a commute from downtown Chicago to Burr Ridge for work each day? We'd like to enjoy the experience of city living but not if the commute each day is going to be impossible.

Thanks

If it's not too late to help... driving in either direction during rush hour is horrible from downtown to Burr Ridge, although it is slightly better in the direction you would be commuting - by that I mean it would take 40-50 minutes instead of over an hour. Mass transit is totally impractical in your case as well. So I would suggest living somewhere with a nice downtown (like Naperville) and driving from there.

Default Burr Ridge is closer

I must disagree with Bagah. I grew up in the West suburbs. Burr Ridge is significantly closer to the city than Naperville. Burr Ridge straddles DuPage and Cook County. Chicago is in Cook County. Naperville straddles DuPage and Will County. Naperville is at least 15 miles further west from Chicago than Burr Ridge. Any map will show this to be true.

That's not to say it will be a great commute; 40 mins is about right. Still, Naperville to downtown will take you well over an hour by driving in rush hour.

It would be about 30-40 min from downtown - max.

But, if you can afford it, live in Burr Ridge - it is a beautiful town.
