Hi - -

I am looking for a site in which I can plug in the name of a community and it will show the town's city limits.

Yahoo Maps, Map Quest and Googlemaps do not show the borders of a community. Being more specific I am looking for a map showing the borders of Clarendon Hills.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Redfin will do that for you. www.redfin.com

I have also found that if you go to the city's website they often have maps as well.

The "legal description" type boundaries are done in such a way that you generally have to buy a map from the County or download the whole data set from some source like the Census Bureau. The "third meridian past the prime boundary" type description don't work real well with the kind of satellite and photo based stuff that google has for free...

That said I happen to have 'special knowledge' of the town you mention and can guide you to a source for the political annexation limits. (pm me and odds are good I can tell you)

I will caution that CH like many other towns has multiple layers of boundaries -- Park District is not 100% same as Village and there separate lines for the schools districts too. Thus if you want the 'full dope' on address you should check with the Township Assessor and County Clerk, the latter provides a mostly reliable web tool that will tell which taxing districts a parcel is located in (though it ain't legally binding if the tool screws up) DuPage County Clerk - Gary A. Fire up a version of Google Earth (the software, not the online version). There is an option at the bottom, under Government I believe, that you can tick the check-box for areas by city / zip code / etc... the boundry lines are a bit difficult to see (thin red line) but they are there and fairly accurate but not 100%.

That's the fast way. If you need the accurate way (and not fast), go to the library and look up some registered maps.
