My brother and his wife live in the subdivision just south of Barclay Estates (Lakewood Ridge) on the other side of Boughton Rd. They like the neighborhood, the neighbors and haven't had any problems. Lots of families with kids. You will be fine! I wouldn't worry about that part of Bolingbook.

Bolingbrook has a really awesome park district, the library is being enlarged, close to shopping. It a nice place, I don't know why people rip on it so much.

I am just about to move into Bolingbrook. (Feb 1st, 2010)
The area like all area's has it's good and bad locations, but overall I am quite impressed with the town.

Life is all about opportunities. If the house you bought is as good as you think and you are happy, well done.... Enjoy your home and your family, because at the end of the day, that's about all you have!!!

Default bolingbrook

Bolingbrook does get a bad rap thats not really justified, there are nice areas and some less nice areas but the worst part of Bolingbrook is better than the best part of Maywood or Cicero or something like that.

The area near Boughton where it hits Naper Plainfield Rd is very nice. It's also really nice off Royce Rd. There's some nice neighborhoods near boughton and 53 although they are also near innsbrook apartments and some shadier areas.

The section near plainfield road goes to Naperville schools, Bolingbrook schools are kind of ghetto but again you could do alot worse in other burbs. My buddy lives in subsidized apartments near the new bolingbrook high school, when I drive over there I see alot of kids with pants hanigng off their butts, think their thugs, etc.

There are a lot of registered sex offenders in Bolingbrook. I don't know why but you can see them on the map. You should go to the state of IL website and see if they are near your new home.

I've lived in Bolingbrook for about 4 years now, and am about a mile south of where you are looking. The area there is very nice, kinda off the beaten path as far as anything goes. Most of the hotspots for trouble are south of Boughton, but as many have said there's some in every town. Lots of newer shops near the mall, which is a 5 minute drive from where we are as opposed to on Weber, where almost half the stores have closed. We're hoping to move in the near future, but that's just because I'm sick of winter! Only downside for you is that most of the civic facilities and shopping is not walking distance. But then again, it's winter for 6 months of the year...

I've lived in Bolingbrook (Winston Woods) since I was nine years old. I am about to turn 50. I hear what other people think about Bolingbrook and all I can say is those people are snobs. Sure there are undesirable sections of town, but that's true of any town or village. Yes, there is a small gang presence here, but that is also true of some of the more upscale towns surrounding Bolingbrook. For as long as I have lived here, I have always felt safe. However, we no longer live in a day and age where you can leave your doors unlocked at night. The people from the questionable areas of town usually stick to their own neighborhoods and don't bother anyone. Say what you might about the Bolingbrook Police force, they regularly patrol and their presence is felt. I go for a walk every evening and I have never been afraid, I've never been approached and no one has ever offered to give me a problem. If you ever did experience a problem, the Bolingbrook Police department is quick to respond and extremely helpful. I think you got really lucky and as long as you take precautions like locking your doors and maybe investing in some motion sensor lights for your yard, you should be okay.
