I got a red light ticket in Elk Grove Village. It's a turn ticket. I stopped at the line. The picture is totally ambiguous. My face is not shown.

I am moving out of state (I live out of state now). I am not going to pay the ticket.

What can EGV do about that?

Good for you - fight the man.

I think their options depend on agreement between your state and IL.

You have to also stop completely for 2 seconds, too. I hate those dang cameras.

You can challenge, though it is likely you will lose. Many towns have put up red-light cameras to raise revenue. Most of the tickets issued are for not coming to a full stop on a right turn. You may also want to write your state representative. This is becoming a strong political issue.

EGV cant do squat provided you don't get 5 or more. As one poster said, they could try and ding your credit, but I feel tha'ts a small price to pay for standing up to this bull crap. These contractors are not even from the USA. They are from England and Australia. Believe me I know as I am a police officer and absolutely hate these things. I believe in the constitution and I am sworn to defend it. Thank god Senator Dan Duffy from Barrington has legislation to abolish this bull crap. He knows this is an infringement on our liberties. I also know that Illinois has not suspended one license for this anyway. Reason is simple...no village has signed a contract with them to do so yet. See these are civil offenses not criminal. Therefor you need a contract signed like they do with shopping malls to enforce handicapped parking. Without it...the villages will not write those tickets. So as I have told many before...weigh whats more important to you and take a stand. Hopefully soon this will all be a moot point anyway if Duffy is successful. Cir=ties like Schaumburg have removed theirs....so I guess some are getting it right finally.

I can't say what you should do, but if it is under $ 200 I would skip town. Is a right turn on red a moving violation? or is it more like a rolling at a really low speed violation?
