The rankings according to the Sun Times (based on the state report cards I think) go:
1. Naperville North (203) - #12 in state
2. Nequa Valley (204) - #19 in state
3. Naperville Central (203) - #27 in state
4. Waubonsie (204) #68 in state

All 4 are in the state's top 100. There seems to be a mild bit of, shall we just say, homogeneously-leaning demographic preferences driving some of the pro-203 sentiment, because I can find no hard numbers to truly rationalize the sense of educational superiority. Sure, the top school is in 203. But the second best school is in 204, ahead of the next best 203 school.

All of these schools absolutely dust the state averages.

The new school isn't listed, probably because...well, it's new. But I've heard it's looking pretty freaking good.

Compared to Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, etc. I'd say Naperville is a bargain in general, even in 60540, and in D203. There are some very decent looking houses popping up in the listings for under 400K. As nice as what can be had a little further south? Not quite. Nicer than what the same money would get in Downers Grove? Absolutely.

One thing I do notice: why are some tear downs so grossly high-priced? I mean...the house is clearly worthless, and yet in effect they want the same price for the land that one could purchase a reasonably nice house for. What's that all about? Like this thing:

You know, i was just looking at the school districting map for 204 and it is interesting. There seems to be some crazy boundaries here and there...maybe it is due to child populations, but it looks more like politics to me. The redistricting happened before i moved to Naperville, but I would have loved to hear some of the discussions about why things were chosen the way they were.

Woodridge elementary schools aren't rated too highly right now. Greatschools gives D68 a 6 out of 10 based on test scores. I personally like the area but that certainly gave me pause. For high school I think Woodridge utilizes shared districts with neighboring towns that are pretty good.
