We moved here a year ago, and so far, are quite pleased. We live in an older development, but so far, so good.

Just wondering others thoughts on Lake Zurich. My only negative thoughts are they don't have an actual park district, but other than that, I'm happy.

Curious to what others say.

I don't have any personal insight on the area, but I am looking to move to the Long Grove/Kildeer area. I wasn't aware there wasn't a park district in Lake Zurich. Is there one in Long Grove? Just curious.

There is a good size park district next door in Barrington. My son has been very active in it.
Lake Zurich is fine. Cute,(albeit tiny)"downtown" village, pretty lake(from walking around it,never used the beach).I shop there often as it really has just about everything (Rt 12). Also, some decent restaurants (Julios,DJ Bistro)
Alot of traffic, but its probably all us shoppers.

A few years back, IDOT rerouted Rt 22 away from the old part of town, which the village is trying to redevelop. Until they do that, the downtown area is attractive. Not an easy commute to downtown Chicago, with lack of train or connecting bus, but I would think few Lake Zurich residents work there.

LZ is a nice town, its on our top 3 "wish list," and we are from the area originally, moving back this year. I am surprised to hear they do not have a Park District though, I find that strange.

We are considering moving to the Lake Zurich area. We are moving from Orlando, FL and my husband will be working in elk Grove Village. Can anyone tell me how long of a commute this is? Also, are there other areas we should consider? Schools are of utmost importance.

Default At least 20 miles of commuting..

The distance between EGV and LZ is not the worst stretch for commuting, but since you'd need to move across at least three major employment corridors (EGV Itself, the Schaumburg / Woodfield Corridor , and the south portion of the Barrington / Central Lake Co corridor) all which are extremely dense with traffic.

Figure about 45 minutes AM rush hour and about 1:15 PM evenings...

Lake Zurich schools are pretty good, though numerically the high school is eclipsed by Stevenson, the much larger student population at Stevenson makes for fierce competition even for club level activities let alone the varsity sports....
