Default looking for suggestions on best suburbs -see msg

Considering a move to the area west of Chicago and looking for a cool town - not big, active lifestyle - running, cycling - not too far from Hillside - south or west of it. Town with some character, safe, village, town square type of feel but contemporary, homes realistically priced - new and older mix. Sounds like I'm asking for a lot...any suggestions appreciated.

You will need to define what you consider realistically priced homes. There are many towns that may fit the bill, but price will be the determining factor. Also, are schools a factor?

no - past the school stages but want an area that has a good feel - maybe with a village-tpe of center area. We are cyclists and I run. Since we are coming from a smaller town, I'm not looking for big city headaches. Home prices will be more there - here, southern IN, a nice 2200 - 2400 sq ft. home would be arround $190 - 200,000. I would be working in Hillsdale.

Hillsdale, or Hillside? Hillsdale is way out west by Iowa, and Hillside is closer to the Chicago area.

Berwyn fits your bill. You may have to push your price expectation a little higher, or downsize on the house a bit.

You may be hard pressed to find something in that price range. Brookfield might be a good fit with the paved running/cycling path originating near the Zoo, but the property will likely be small and in need of updating and repairs.
