Hi All,

What do people do when they miss the train at 7:27 from Buffalo grove or 7:32 from Wheeling to downtown?
I feel the frequency on NCS metra line is less as compared to rest of the lines? There is no other train between 7:30ish to 9:46ish.
What is the solution if one misses the train?

thanks.

E-mail or write to your congressman and village officials. I believe it is a funding issue and a scheduling issue with freight traffic. As CN moves freight traffic off this line and onto the EJ&E line, it may allow more passenger service. The solution now is to research other nearby Metra lines and catch a train there if possible.

Drive to Lake-Cook Rd, the closest station likely to have parking. Alternate: North Glenview Since these stations are Zone E or D, you can use your Buffalo Grove (zone F) monthly ticket.

Remember, the North Central line only opened in 1996. It was the only new train line in the area in something like *70* years if I remember correctly. The service was increased several years ago so that there were a handful of trains in each direction each day instead of just a few (this required dual-tracking in several spots, like another poster said this is primarily a CN freight line).

Regarding Metra Railfan Tips: keep in mind that Metra does not use this route until Tower B-12. To get there from Union Station, the trains use the shorter Milwaukee-West line. This throws off the mileage. At Franklin Park and points north the mileposts are about 3 miles above the actual distance from Union Station.
