I suppose so, provided you take "her" story at face value.

I have no doubt that racial profiling happens as I've seen it myself, and it's terrible and unfair and rightly illegal (though sadly impossible to prove) but if your dumb daughter wasn't driving illegally nothing would have happened, so there's no one to blame here but her.

Racial Profiling
They racial profile in the suburbs and the city. In Itasca, it helps keeps the riff raff out and crime low.
In the city, where I am at in Humboldt Park, it keeps me safe. The police occassionally will ask me what I am doing walking around in my area and tell me that I should move (hispanic and white cops) but have never pulled me over, though I am constantly talking on my cell. Threre are a myriad of reasons for this keeping me safe, mostly with the cops patrolling my area being predominantly italian and polish and being extremely racist, particularly against blacks, not so much against hispanics, though somewhat against puerto ricans.
I talk quite often with my black neighbors about how it is unfair as last year I drove 3 months with a headlight out (I knew it but was too lazy to fix it). I was never pulled over. Had I been black or hispanic I almost guarantee I would have been pulled over.
I was finally pulled over in Des Plaines by the cops for my headlight being out with a black passenger in my car. They made us wait for 30 mins. All I was doing is driving my friend back to his parent's house (over $1MM) in Oak Park. I shortly fixed the light after that, but still found it pretty sad that it took a black person being in the car to pull me over.

If I lived in Des Plaines (I only office here sometimes) I would probably be okay with the police going overboard if that led to lower crime. I actually lived in Itasca and if the police going overboard (very little crime, yet right next to major expressways) leads to safer conditions for me living there I am okay with it.
Had I lived in Des Plaines I might have been annoyed a little less. It is kinda like when you have the random drunk driving pull overs. It slows down traffice and inconveniences you, but it is keeping drunks off the streets and ultimately keeps you safer.
I guess I was just inconvenienced. I am sure my black neighbors are inconvenienced all the time. I am not saying that is right.
By the way, Israel does racial profiling but look at the results. You can't argue with that. 9/11 would never have happened in Israel. Their police don't play and do whatever they have to in order to keep terrorists at bay.
If crime were ever to get above a certain level you would also see a rise in racial profiling amongst police here in the United States. As a result of 9/11, many Muslims are being harrassed at airports. I don't see this going away anytime soon as 9/11 can never be forgotten as it impacted so many innocent lives and was a real wake-up call for our country.

I don't think it helps. My own father has been racially profiled a few times and it didn't make Paulding County, GA any safer, just a police state. I doubt racial profiling keeps the rif raf out. Where I live the police are constantly abusing their authority and it doesn't keep the "rif raf" away. The only thing racial profiling does is make me not want to live in that area and who could blame a person for not wanting to live in an area because they are constantly stopped by the police for little or nothing.

Just being sarcastic. I did, however, get pulled over 3 times in 3 days, all for piddly crap. Ive probably been pulled over more times than anyone I know, all for the dumbest reasons ever. I got harrassed to the point where I didnt even want to drive anymore.
