Hi everyone,
We are moving from Florida to the Chicago Suburbs and I think we have made the choice of Frankfort. We visited last week and the town is completely beautiful and from what I hear the schools are outstanding. Can anyone tell me more about this town? Is this the right choice? My husband will be working in the city but the train commute doesn't seem too bad. Any insight? Thanks in advance, Madelyn |

I have several friends and business associates that live in Frankfort and have great things to say! It is an area that is scenic and has alot to offer. Great restaurants and shops.
There is a diverse selection of homes from historic gems near the downtown area to some fabulous new construction. Additionally, I-355, the north-south tollway, is being extended into that area which will make it much more accessable and is sure to drive property values up! Good luck in your search! |

Frankfort is by far the one suburb in the southern suburbs that has big things in mind for itself. New homes are rather on the posh side and the schools are EXCELLENT. If you do buy anywhere near this town try to be in the Lincoln Way school district as this school district has proven itself over the past decade to rank right up there in excellence with Sandburg and Andrew's district 230 to the north.
Frankfort is a gold mine right now as land is still relatively cheap due to the lack of tollways/freeways, HOWEVER big things are about to happen. 355 is expected to be open for business in 5 months!!! This means property values are about to skyrocket in a way that the southern burbs have yearned for for over 20 years while areas such as Lombard and Oak Brook saw their property values dramatically increase with 88 and 294 always being added onto. The hot area in the south burbs is going to be anywhere that an interchange on 355 is going to be and there is going to be one as close as New Lenox off Rte 30 so consider the western fringe of Frankfort. This will provide you with that prestigous Frankfort address and allow you to take advantage of the proximatey to the tollway. |

Frankfort is a beautiful area, good schools and close to alot of shopping, you can also still get a decent amount of house for the $$$. The only real negative I can tell you, and I don't know how important this is to you, is the water. There is a high iron content in the city well and you can see yellow rings in your toilets probably a day after cleaning them. The whites in your laundry tend to take a yellow tint also. While this is said, I know most people get water softners and the water is fine to drink. I just had to say this because when I moved to Lockport, which has similar water to Frankfort, this is one of the reasons we moved. Neighboring towns such as Mokena and New Lenox are now on Lake Michigan water just FYI.

Madelyn,
I am from Frankfort and grew up there. I have nothing but great things to say about my hometown. It is a wonderful place to raise kids and there is a lot going on in the area. You have nearby shopping in Orland Park, close transportation to Chicago via Metra, closer to major interstates such as I-80 and I-57, and to top it off it is an extremely fast growing community being relatively close to New Lenox, Mokena, Homer Glen. You can't go wrong with the school district. My experience at Lincoln Way East HS was awesome. The middle school and junior high system is exceptional as well. Hickory Creek Junior is almost brand new. I think only 2 years old now. If you were not satisfied with Frankfort I would look into other towns such as Mokena, New Lenox, Plainfield, Homer Glen, Orland Park, or Tinley Park. |
