Megabus usually stops for at least five minutes, in my experience. They have to load everyone's luggage at the back before they leave, and by the time everyone gets on, there's plenty of time to cross the street. I don't think I'd wait somewhere where I couldn't see it, but otherwise it's fine to not be right at the stop. I think most of the Megabus routes that go to and from Chicago either start or end here, so it takes a while for the staff to load everything and for the passengers to board.

Generally a minimum of 20-25 minutes; outside of Chicago, usually 10-15 minutes.

You have all the greek town restaurants a few blocks west and north on Halsted.
