Can someone suggest a dance club in Chicago that has a lot of people and is really big? We'll be in the area Friday night in early August. My fiance and I usually hang out in smaller, more intimate lounges or music venues. But for our vacation to Chicago, we want to get down and crazy. Relive our youth. So looking for a big, crowded club.

Hopefully no cover before 11 or something like that (we ain't got no money). Some place that either has an Asian crowd or a diverse crowd (black/white/asian/hispanic). Can't really mingle well if it's a rock club full of aggressive white frat boys.

And hopefully some place that has decent prices for drinks. Can't afford $10 rails.

I was thinking of this one place called Vision. Anybody heard of it? Or Elm Street Liquors?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Throw Sound-Bar into the mix (in the River North area), I think this would fit your criteria possibly. Main floor is usually techno/trance/house (plus it has a nice VIP area with a separate house DJ). Basement floor is usually hip hop.

Elm Street Liquors has the advantage of being closer to Rush & Division where you can bounce around from crowded bar to crowded bar that would probably fit your mixed criteria but probably not the large danceclub part. Le Passage is worth checking out if you're looking for hip hop, and not a gigantic club, but a potentially wild time. Definitely a mixed crowd there. If you're out in Bucktown / Wicker Park, check out Ohm, pretty good mixed crowd out there too & some classic hip hop & house mixes. I just find Excalibur / Vision (right upstairs from Excalibur) to be too cheesy & mediocre to even be considered. The place went downhill years ago, and now pretty much only attracts clueless tourists.

I'd advise using Yelp to look up venue reviews.

Thanks for the info. I looked at a few Yelp reviews of random clubs. But there's so much to read through. Sound Bar looks to be a pretty good place.

We only have one shot at it so I want to make sure the club is the right choice. We like bar hopping, but not dance club hopping. Need to find a good one so that I can find out what the "password" is or get on the guestlist or get in before they start charging cover.
