The boundaries of Wicker Park are the invisible walls that only I can see that keep me out of that godforsaken neighborhood every day. Sort of like a dog's shock collar or spidey senses.

Because there are too many yuppies or too much crime? This statement is so confusing coming from someone that lives in the most touristy/least local neighborhood in the city.

Neither. Because the neighborhood is chock-full of the most irritating (and irritating-!ooking) people in the city.

Not all of the residents are like that... I lived on a block there till a year ago where I was the only one without kids (didn't have kids, moved to West Loop... or East East Garfield Park). There were a lot of the skinny jeans bike messenger types, but they weren't exactly the majority. I'd say its mostly well off 25-35 year olds who have 0 desire to live in Lincoln Park or Lakeview.

I'm actually a rail-thin 20-something in skinny jeans myself. It's more the general attitude and demeanor of most of these types you describe that I cannot stand.

And the fact that they all congregate and live in one freaking neighborhood...

I think you may need to better acquaint yourself with all of the neighborhoods in the city before you make such gross generalizations. Not everyone in Lincoln Park is a 20 something Big Ten d-bag and not everyone in Wicker Park is a hipster. In fact, I find more hipsters in Logan Square and Pilsen than Wicker Park. They may still hang there but few of them still live there.
