I don't really have many pet peeves, but I have been to several sit down restaurants in Chicago where guys are eating dinner with a baseball hat on. Also I have been to baseball games this year on both the North and South sides where more and more guys don't take off their hats during the National Anthem. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

It might be tucked into one of these threads: Why Doesn't Anyone Wear a Dinner Jacket Anymore? or Appropriate cash wedding gift?

I never even thought about taking my hat off at a restaurant, unless maybe it was an extremely "fancy" place.

I notice at baseball games though, although I haven't really noticed it happening more at Wrigley than previously.

And some of them wear their hats BACKWARD....and talk on their cell phones during dinner..

I went to a Second City performance a few months ago, and the actors called out someone who was sending a text message on her phone, only several rows away from the front stage. It's just amazing to see people who simply can't put their cell phones down for even 5 minutes, as they clutch them for dear life..pretty pathetic.

So if I'm at a casual place getting wings and beer I have to take my hat off so as not to offend your delicate sensibilities?

Are you my 86 year old grandmother?

And now we hear from the kiddie-corps, the worst offenders...

Take your hat off, and show a little class..

It's just part of the overall decline in manners and civility that has been going on in this country for some time now. I often tremble for the future of our culture.

Unfortunately a lot of people don't event realize it is rude to wear a hat in a restaurant. They are dumbfounded when someone takes offense.

HEY! He said show some class!

Didn't some of your mothers teach you that a gentleman (Ah, that's the problem) always takes off his hat indoors.

Good manners will never be out of style. Try them. You might like them!
