Default Living in chicago

Besides the cold weather and crime, whats wrong with living in Chicago? You have a bunch of night activites and sports venues. It can't be any worst than Baltimore,Md.

Uh oh, here we go again. Every city has people who love it, like it, and hate it. Everyone has things they love about Chicago, like about Chicago, and hate about Chicago (namely the weather and crime). Everything being equal, Chicago is better than Baltimore if you want things to do in the city. Chicago also 5x as many people as Baltimore.

My company just bought acquired another division out there and there is a open position available paying more. Baltimore is also boring.

Search the forum. There has been plenty of threads written about negative things about the city. There is no need to continue with #100.

Who's up for reenacting that scene from The Lottery?

I have been to Baltimore. It is not a bad city overall. They have all sports teams, plus an hour each way to DC and Philly and all their sports. Baltimore has an ok nightlife scene, but still nothing compared to Chicago and all its entertainment. Chicago is slightly more expensive than Baltimore.

If the job pays more it will probably offset most cost of living issues. The weather sucks during the winter but summers here are great.

Compared to other cities, crime is only an issue if 1) You're a gang banger or 2) live in a terrible area.

Aside from those two issues the crime is pretty minimal. Your car might get broken into if it's on the street overnight, and maybe you'll get mugged if you are walking around alone at night in a place you shouldn't be. This isn't really different than any other major city though.

To answer the OP's question, there's nothing wrong with living in Chicago. And you'll probably be better off in life if you don't start inquiries into new cities with "What's wrong with this place?"

It's like walking into a restaurant and asking the patrons why you SHOULDN'T eat there. "What's the worst thing on the menu?"

I'm one of those weird people who LOVES B-more (I'm in NoVA right now but would live in B-more if I could), but Chicago is way better. Like, way, way, way better.
