Thanks for the tip. I don't recall ever going to the place you mentioned.
I really don't know, I came here 45 years ago and it was just called "Polk and Western". The neighborhood kids got jobs there peeling potatoes.
I was there about 2 years ago and it was still there, the hotdogs tasted exactly the same. I hope it has survived.
My husband was stationed in Tennesse where we met and when we got married and he brought me to Chicago it was the FIRST place we stopped, lol, even before his Mom's house.

Hasty Tasty on Milwaukee used to have good dogs but they're long gone.

For Italian Beef there was this really good stand on the west side of Harlem in Elmwood Park, somwhere north of Grand...mayb Harlem & Diversey or Harlem & Addison...somwhere up there. I'd know it if I'd see it. They had good dogs too.

Luke's. Belmont and Harlem. Next to the White Castle. It is within the city limits.

...that must be a different one. The one I'm thinking was off Milwaulkee, & I'm pretty sure it closed years ago.

BTW, thanks for the location on that Italian beef place. Believe it or not we had a Chicago hot dog and Italian beef place here in Dayton, briefly...its a gyros place now.

The Tastee Hastee place I am talking was on Milwaukee. How far up was the place you are talking about?

Is the Gyros any good at the place in Dayton? What brand is it?

Not all Chicago hot dogs are real good, but the real good ones are all near equal in taste and quality.
Thank you. Just what I was going to say. Come on, they all come from the same factory. The only difference is natural casing or not from the production line.

What were they serving before? Wrigley often got high marks from baseball fans for their hot dogs and I could never figure out why. They just tasted like food service hot dogs to me.

They were Sara Lee. Disgusting. This should tell you how much most people know about anything food related. "Ball Park" brand I believe. Disgusting.

I never understood it either.

I must say though the Bison dogs are/were really good.
