Default When were these old train tracks last used? v. Bronzeville

There are former train tracks between 40th-41st. The remnants are from I-94 all the way to the tracks parallel to Lake Shore Drive.

A couple streets have rusty bridges over them.

There look to be doors and windows bricked over like they used to be train stops

There are full sized trees growing up there. I'd guess it's been a long time since they were used.

This section is almost the depth of a city lot and it goes half a block.

Please reply if you know the history of these tracks.

They should put that line back in service and extend it through Hyde Park and then down to the East Side.

They should just convert the Metra Electric to CTA service.

Then I'd move to the East Side and go swimming at Calumet Park beach.

The city also needs an outer ring El line to connect the outer ends of the lines; kind'a like the Crosstown that old Mayor daley proposed.

If it is a part of a Real circle line (not the b.s. one proposed near Ashland) then I would agree, but as a stand alone-I do not see the Kenwood line to East Side getting a lot of ridership.

I think an L line that went through Hyde Park would get tons of ridership. The whole shoreline area all the way down to East Side is dense enough that it would probably get enough ridership to justify putting a line there. Finally, I think L access would help stabilize East Side which is currently white-knuckling it.
