Another tip: Become a member of the DuSable Museum and you get reciprocal membership at the Planetarium and at the Mexican Fine Arts Museum. It's $25 for the family membership which covers up to four people. Admission to the Planetarium is $27 for adults and $21 for children so don't sleep on that.

I have just found out that the Shedd Aquarium is free on Mondays and Brookfield zoo is free on Tuesdays!

Default update

Thanks everyone for the tips.

Just returned from our trip last night.

We did not go to Musuem of Science and Industry or the Shedd Aquarium.
As people said here, too much to see over one weekend.

I didn't realize that the MSI doesn't open until 1100 AM on Sunday... which we had planned to do Sunday morning before leaving.

So it was senseless to go there for 1.5 hours. So we took the water taxi to the Navy Pier and let the kids run around.

John Hancock was spectacular Saturday night along with the fireworks
and Field museum was very interesting and convenient. The one hour highlights guided tour was just right for the kids. By the time the tour was over, instead going back through museum for a more thorough look, the girls were ready to head outdoors.

We also went to the Planetarium and saw Journey to the Stars, then spent an exhorbiant amount of time "building space rockets" and going through the children interactive exhibit.

Millenium park was fun and relaxing, and of course the American Girl place was the highlight of their weekend. A great time for all.

Thanks for the tips; now I have visited, I have better more efficient ideas for our next visit.
