That is far from the truth, even though I see your point with the 312 area. Are you one of those people that think the city ends and meet in downtown and the Northside(mostly 773)? The southside(counts for 60% of the city) is not nearly gentrified.

Well at least Chicago is gaining some of its population back from the loss since 2000. What about Detroit?

Yes but the southside- or much of it- is dangerous.

we have to remember..
We have to remember the project buildings made a big impact on chicagos population, in the early 2000s the city tour them down making the population decrease also...and in replasment of those eye soars there are thriving communities, and its happening all over the city. like 87th street east and west of the danryan expsw. its seeing major growth and improvement..or take the far south side (103rd street till about 116th street) its all changing down that way...chicagos population may be decreasing but its not going down that much its acually increasing to my knowlege (the city not the burbs)..I would know I just moved here from the hot sand box pheonix,arizona..americas biggest suburb..

The more Irish the better. Same goes for the Mexicans. Maybe the Wasps will continue to slide down in population seeing as so many have dogs instead of kids.

One argument against population growth is maybe a city has too many people and when the pop. declines the quality of life goes up. This is not my theory but one of the many theories I have heard about population growth. So for instance Chicago maybe be losing people but the quality of life goes up and Chicago may find it's perfect size at 2.5mil. Maybe craming as many people into Chicago isn't the way to go and then maybe it is, I don't know just offering some thoughts.

Because this city is not worth anywhere near the amount of money that u pay to live here. there are really cheap areas, but the sales tax, the parking meters and all the other crap daley and his team of idiots have up there sleeves are making it impossible for anybody to live here. They're trying to turn what was originally like a giant Philadelphia into a smaller New York City. I'm hoping to move out myself within the next year or two. Honestly the people who run this place are criminals and I can't believe people just turn a blind eye to it all. Yes the city had improved since the 90's, but it's overdoing itself. The harder they come, the harder they fall. It's rediculous how many people I talk to want to leave. Oh. and let's not forget the weather. This summer was the worst summer I have seen in my entire life.
