The suburbs would be the new place for the poor and lower middle class.
The inner city will be the new place for the rich

Actually this IS true. Mexicans may have more kids than Anglos, but they have fewer kids than they did a generation ago, significantly fewer.
Human perception often does not match reality.

That's true. You can already see it happening in some suburbs, they used to be regular ol' suburbs too with nice trimmed lawns and ornaments and everything. Now those very same properties are starting to look run down.

They're trying to turn what was originally like a giant Philadelphia into a smaller New York City. I'm hoping to move out myself within the next year or two. Honestly the people who run this place are criminals and I can't believe people just turn a blind eye to it all. Yes the city had improved since the 90's, but it's overdoing itself. The harder they come, the harder they fall. It's rediculous how many people I talk to want to leave. Oh. and let's not forget the weather. This summer was the worst summer I have seen in my entire life.

Can I make a cheap shot here? to answer your statement: Honestly the people who run this place are criminals and I can't believe people just turn a blind eye to it all.
It's because Chicago is run by Democrats.

I used to live in Chicago. All Ive got to say is that its a shame Chicago isnt located somewhere warm (or at least less cold). It is one of the best cities in the world! I moved there with the intent to stay and settle somewhere around the city, however (being from LA), I just couldnt take the cold.

Depends on the suburb and neighborhood. Most suburbs are extremely well kept and make Chicago (even downtown) look like a cesspool of filth, disease and garbage.

Aren't they just relocating to very outer ring suburbs? I'd love to see the same area as LA claims as their population put in the same area for Chicago...
So it is really just like many cities which peaked and their residents still live and work in the suburbs... I mean people are commuting metra from Wisconsin to work everyday...
Chicago is 2.9 mil and LA is 3.9 mil but over 227 sq miles and 470 square miles respectiively.
To me Chicago is still easily the 2nd biggest city behind NYC as far as all things city goes.

But LA has a Mountain Range that cuts through the city...I would be surprised if the average chicago neighborhood is really that much denser than the average LA neighborhood.
