I was living in Cincinnati at the time so I don't know, but wasn't the severity of the 1967 storm completely unexpected? At least now in 2011, its all they've been talking about for days, so no one should be caught unprepared.

I was not alive in 1967 so I don't know if the severity was expected or not. It sure seems like the severity was unexpected from what I have read.

Yes, nobody should be caught unprepared that is able to prepare in these times. Some of the old people are going to need a hand though.

I remember it well. My vw bug was buried for several days! Only 4 inches was predicted originally. People were stranded in their offices. Cars were stranded all over the place too. People did come through to help others in our neighborhood in Rogers Park. Those of us who were young and able shopped for the older folks in our apartment building. Walking to the Dominick's on Broadway was quite a haul though.

Why am I not surprised to see who resurrected this ancient thread?

Based on the amount of hype, I'm fully expecting to get six inches of snow that melts before the weekend. But I'll just say that I won't be driving to work tomorrow or Wednesday, just in case.

Isn't it obvious who "Tony" is? Think revenge and combustion.

I have never posted on this forum under any other name. I'm just posting less because I'm working a lot, and I don't post from work.

LOL - I think you're right (and I also have the same work/posting cycle you're talking about).

I'm skeptical that we'll get as much snow as they're promising, hopefully we'll get more, but I think most of the time we get 1/2 to 1/3 of what is hyped in the forecasts.
