Default Goes way beyond teacher's contracts!

The real answer is that many homeowners are not paying their taxes so the ones that are lost most of their exemption to cover the budget. Note that most of your tax money is going to the local schools since UNIONS run the the school districts and get sweetheart contracts. Imagine retiring at 60 after being a high school gym teacher and getting $160,000 yearly pension. High School career counselor's should coach the kids on the best way to milk the system so everybody can get rich without trying. No that wouldn't work because someone needs to pay so someone else can ride the gravy train.
Of course, it's alll the teacher's fault. The union bosses double dipping and the state union pension deal Quinn crafted to get re-elected don't figure in this at all. So many abuses by so many state leaders and their "connected" contributors. And what do we as voters do? Re-elect them! So many voters seemingly voting based on who has the slickest TV commercial Why wasn't there a major house cleaning last election in Springfield??!! Too many lemmings going to the poll and following one another off the cliff! Oh and don't ask for ID from the voter, that's discrimination! Even though you are supposed to carry ID to identify yourself to law officers.

If IL Republicans could put up a decent candidate that would help.

You are not required to carry government issued ID at all. That is a basic Libertarian issue, and I do not believe that the government should ever require people to carry photo IDs, and should not require people to do so to vote.

If you want to drive a car you need a license. If you want to get a job or open a bank account you need a SS card, but those are VERY different than being required to carry ID on you at all times.

You should have written: "White people are not required to carry government issue ID at all."

My parent's homeowner exemption dropped from 1300 down to 400. Their property tax increase by 70% compared to last year. Assessed value of home was equal to last year, so most of the increase was due to decrease in homeowner exemption. Need to figure out this homeowner exemption calculation.. Tried to call the assessor office 5 times today. Everytime the signal was busy.
