Great pictures everyone. Looking at a nice picture of Chicago is a bittersweet moment for me. One one hand I'm thinking, "What a beautiful city" and on the other I'm thinking, "Too bad I'm not there"...

anyway, any chance the original poster could hook me up with the full size image of this?

I have a portfolio to submit to a college soon, and I'd love to incoporate that pic into one of my designs - with permission, of course.

Now now. I realize Detroits problems. But as the capital of the midwest, Chicago should be an encouragement and example to other midwestern cities. Chicago has had a turbulent history, and negative images that it overcame (people who aren't familiar with Chicago still think steel mills, gangsters, and tommyguns). I still think if Detroit really believes in itself and has a regional cooperation it can realize its potential.

A little reminder of what potential I'm talking about:

Belle Isle
Campus Martius
Detroit Institute of Arts
Motown (a whole style of music)
Ren Center (its great architecture)
Fisher Building
Fox Theatre
Hart Plaza
Penobscot Building
Henry Ford and Greenfield Village (yeah, yeah, I know its in Dearborn)
Comerica Park and Ford Field
Wayne State
Ann Arbor only 40 miles away (has more to see and do than towns 10X the size)
Gateway to a whole other country.

Just a short list. Theres a lot more.

Have you ever felt like a friend or family member has a really low self-esteem and can't get over a bad past and you get sad because they don't realize their potential but you really believe in them?

Just a thought.
