My girlfriend and I were in Vegas a few weeks ago for one of my work conferences, and we were absolutely blown away by some of the clubs there (particularly Rain in the Palms, if anyone has been).

Though Chicago does have a good number of decently-sized dance clubs, I'd never been to anything of this scale before.

Does anything really enormous and elaborate exist in Chicago? Places like Lasalle Power Company and SmartBar are fun, but something bigger has to exist, right?

I'm not big on clubs so don't know a ton about Chicago Clubs but I was always impressed by Sound Bar. Nothing like Vegas but pretty good.

Honestly I don't know if any club in Chicago even comes close to what exists in Vegas. Sound-Bar may be your best bet, and even that is very plain jane & nothing special compared to the stuff in Vegas, Miami, etc. I was never particularly impressed by Excalibur / Vision. Crobar may be worth mentioning, but certainly that establishment has gone downhill since the old school days.

crobar is shut down.

op there is nothing like rain, tao, tryst, moon, lavo, etc

soundbar is a bit similar to studio 54 but that is old news and not one of the newer clubs.

vision is large but not really that upscale nice of a venue.

chicago while having some cool clubs has always been more bar oriented, vs say miami or vegas where it is more club/lounge oriented. chicago has a better bar scene, vegas definitely has a better "crazy club" scene. I think the crazy part comes from just being in Vegas, people tend to let loose a little more while there.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

As far as a venue big in sheer physical size, Vision is the largest? I know it's 5 floors, as opposed to Lasalle Power Company at 3.

(Also if anyone has any great recommendations for NYE club events, I'd greatly appreciate them!)

It's not at all in Chicago, but Adrianna's Adrianna's Prices in Markham wins the outrageous award. Hoochie mama Ground Zero.

So why are you mentioning it?

By the way the site says it is in Markham and it is a banquet hall.

I think you mean well, but your information is a relevant as you directing a Chinaman looking for Chinese culture to Poland.

There was a request for outrageous clubs. Adrianna's comes up as a ballroom in a web search, but it is a club on the weekends. Maybe this is par for the course of a nightclub, but it was outrageous to me. Reminded me of the type of people who got caught in the E2 tragedy. Hoochies galore.
