I didn't want to start a new thread for this simple question, but...

Are there any homes with yards in Bridgeport? I've walked around quite a bit, and I see most homes have a deck in the back, and maybe a patch of grass. Is there anything with maybe even a 30x30 yard, or close to it?

Lot sizes are remarkably small and pretty uniform in most Bridgeport. Even the Daley homestead is on lot that is pretty unimpressive compared to some of the oversized spreads some of the aldermen manage to "luck into"...

Not going to say there are NO backyards big enough for more than a hammock, but it pretty darned rare. I have seen a handful of places that look like somebody may have bought adjacent lots and combined them, but much less of that than in some neighborhoods.

I guess most Bridgeport folks who have kids and dogs usually walk to Armour Square Park or something else nearby?

I found the no lawn thing pretty overwhelming - I just got back from looking for a place in Bridgeport and it was honestly kind of shocking how un-green it seemed at first. I don't have a lawn now (in Buffalo) but there are so many huge old trees that I can hardly see my street from my second floor apartment. Makes me wish I knew more about growing plants indoors...I'm really excited about living in Bridgeport, though... I thought it was so cute!

I wonder if it's much different in McKinley Park, to the west. A few listings had pictures of halfway decent sized yards, but I think they could have been an annexed lot. At any rate, I've seen some property in Bridgeport that had decks and such, but not much green space. Not that it isn't hard to walk a couple of blocks to Armour Square (in some cases), but sheesh!

McKinley Park is not quite as dense as Bridgeport, but the lots there aren't exactly expansive either.

I lived in Bridgeport for my first year in the city...this guy is right. They are not friendly. And I wouldn't go anywhere near 35th.

Then either you lived in Bridgeport in 1974 and has changed a ton since you lived there, or you didn't know crap about your own neighborhood. Bridgeport isn't even majority-white, much less "all Irish." That tired old stereotype misses the mark by a huge margin.
