My street is clear of dibs. Once the plows were able to get to the curb, dibs were gone. That's how it should work.

The amount of snow on my street is negligible, yet I continue to see chairs. I guess you own it for the rest of the year

In most places and spaces yes, but there are still areas that have huge piles of snow on the street blocking a number of spaces.

By Wednesday those piles will be gone or greatly shrunk.

That is the only reason I suggested a little more time.

This post is interesting. It shows dibs notes from several different cities.

If I am in need of a chair and I see a chair sitting in the street I assume it is abandoned and I take it home.

This was the first winter I placed a chair in front of my house. It took a lot of work to clear the area and make it easily accessible. I was pulling out one morning and a person was actually waiting to take my spot. (I saw them struggling to park in a spot across the street). I was not going to let them benefit from my hard work. And because I know how prized parking spots are I made sure not to park in front of someone's house when I saw a clear spot.

the plows only pushed the snow up against the parked cars creating more work for us.
